Tribute to Princeton’s Highest Ranking Military Officer

CLICK HERE For more! General John R. Guthrie ’42; “General Jack” to his family, friends and colleagues, died this past May. General Guthrie, who rose to become Commanding General of the Army Material and Readiness Command, was the highest ranking Princeton alumnus in military service.

General Guthrie’s service to the nation, to Princeton University (for whom he was a trustee from 1981-1985), and to Princeton’s football program, to which he was deeply devoted, will be honored at Princeton’s opening game with The Citadel on September 19.

The Alumni and Friends have joined with the Princeton Football Association to honor “General Jack” at the game. The fall football program will also feature this tribute to this great Princetonian.
